We're proud to announce a new partnership between Oban Holiday Lets and This is Oban! This collaboration is built around our shared goal of making Oban an even better experience for everyone who visits, and a stronger community for everyone who lives here. And reflects what we’ve always believed in.

At Oban Holiday Lets, we’ve always advocated for well-managed tourism. When we work to connect visitors with the best of what’s already in Oban, we can add value to the town rather than extract it. Sharing the best of what we’ve got with those who aren’t lucky enough to live here, and helping them to appreciate and love it as much as we do. And we know that This Is Oban share that same mentality.

What This Is Oban does

This is Oban is a platform dedicated to showcasing the people, businesses, and experiences that make the town what it is. It's a space where local stories get told, where independent businesses get visibility, and where the character of Oban comes through.

Authentic representation matters so much to Oban. It’s the difference between a visitor who spends two days in Oban ticking off the obvious sights and leaves, and one who discovers our many local craftsmen (like the Oban Chocolate Company) takes a boat trip with a local guide (like the three isles tour), eats at a local seafood restaurant (the Waterfront Fishhouse is our fave), and leaves having genuinely connected with the place.

The second visitor has a better experience. They spend more locally. They come back. And they recommend Oban to people they know.

Local connections make a better guest experience

At Oban Holiday Lets, we've always tried to give guests more than just a well-maintained property. The quality of a stay in Oban depends enormously on what happens outside the front door: the places guests discover, the experiences they have, the interactions that make a trip feel memorable.

Our team lives and works in Oban. We know which local businesses are exceptional, which walks are underrated, where to find the best food when the harbour restaurants are full, and which ferry crossings are worth prioritising on a short visit. We share all that knowledge with guests through our welcome guides, our guest communications, and our recommendations. Allowing all of the best businesses in Oban to truly benefit from tourism in a positive way.

Partnering with This is Oban deepens that ability. It connects us more closely with the businesses and experiences that make Oban worth visiting, and ensures that the guests staying in our properties get directed towards what's genuinely best about the town.

The Oban ferries are always there to help tourists explore even more of the area.

What does this mean for Oban’s tourism community?

Tourism works best when it circulates locally. Visitors who eat at independent restaurants, use local activity providers, and buy from local shops generate income that stays in the community. That income supports jobs, sustains local services, and maintains the character that makes Oban attractive in the first place.

When holiday accommodation providers work closely with the wider local tourism ecosystem, rather than operating in isolation, that circulation improves. Guests have better experiences, local businesses see better footfall, and the town becomes more resilient as a visitor destination.

That's what this partnership is designed to support, and it's why we're genuinely excited about it.

We’re looking to share even more information about the businesses and experiences we’re collaborating with, both to our audience and through the welcome information we provide to guests.

So if you're a local business or experience provider in Oban who'd like to explore how we can work together, get in touch today.
